Winter Salt Volumetric Survey
The challenge was to survey winter salt stockpiles within internal storage domes, calculate the salt volumes using cut and fill analysis and create a 3D model using photogrammetry.
Twelve sites were surveyed over two days as salt was being used on roads at the time and an accurate picture of stock levels had to be achieved quickly before they changed. Equipped with an on-board lighting system the drone could flood the area with light capturing high resolution video in totally dark environments.
